About Saints Athletics

Johnson Ferry Christian Academy Saints Sports Programs

Johnson Ferry Christian Academy Athletics were founded in 2011 to provide a competitive interscholastic sport opportunity for students. Starting a few years ago with a single sport, it has grown to over 250 student-athletes playing for more than 30 teams across 11 sports. Its mission is to develop JFCA students through preparation for and participation in interscholastic sport competition.

Saints Athletics offers several opportunities for athletes to compete for JFCA. With 11 varsity sports and more than 20 teams from middle school to high school, all JFCA students are encouraged to compete for the Saints. Several sports require tryouts to create and fill their rosters, while others allow all willing participants to compete. There is typically one sport per season which does not require a tryout out in order to provide every JFCA student the opportunity to participate in competitive athletics for their school. More information on grade-specific opportunities, cost, and other details can be found in the Athletics Handbook linked below.

Athletics Handbook

The Parent/Student Athletic Handbook exists in order that athletes and their parents may better understand their responsibilities and rights when an athlete participates in the Johnson Ferry Christian Academy athletic program. It shall be understood that the Parent Handbook of Johnson Ferry Christian Academy is applicable to all students, including student-athletes, and shall have precedence over the Parent/Student Athletic Handbook should any question arise regarding interpretation of guidelines.

Physical Forms

All JFCA students desiring to participate in a sport for the Saints must be cleared by a medical professional prior to participation. No student will be allowed to tryout, practice, or compete for a team until a preparticipation evaluation physical form has been completed and a signed form is on file with the school office. Evaluations completed on or after April 1st prior to the following school year will be valid for participation for a full school year. Completed forms can be turned into the school office or submitted electronically to the Director of Athletics.

Multi-Sport Guidelines

Johnson Ferry Christian Academy strives to offer competitive opportunities in varying athletics to give student-athletes an avenue to develop as a whole person. JFCA desires and encourages multi-sport participation for our student athletes.  With multi-sport athletes there are inherent overlaps in practices or games if an athlete participates in sequential seasons (fall to winter, winter to spring). All current season sports have priority over following sports. Players must first complete their current season before moving on to full time involvement in the next sport. A student-athlete desiring to compete in two sports during one season will need to declare a primary sport.  Those primary sports take precedence above other sports in another season.

Parents Guide to Concussion

Medical research has continued to develop a base of knowledge surrounding head injuries specifically to youth athletes. JFCA asks all of its parents to read the following attachment to better understand the risks of concussions and other head injuries for an athlete competing in a sport. All of JFCA's coaches are required to complete the NFHS Concussion Course to learn the signs of concussions and best steps in treating an injured athlete. The document below provides a resource for parents with concerns of head injuries.

JFCA Handbook

As a Christ-Centered institution, we are called to love others as Christ loved us first. Following the example presented by Christ, built from a relationship with God, all JFCA student-athletes are held to a high standard of conduct as leaders in their sport, school, and community. All athletes will be expected to agree to, and abide by, the JFCA Major Guidelines of Conduct and the Honor Code of Conduct as detailed in the JFCA Parent/Student Handbook. The JFCA Parent/Student Handbook linked below takes precedence over Athletics Handbook should any questions arise regarding the interpretation of guidelines.
